Frequently Asked Questions on the Application System
Question: Can I edit my application after I submit it?
Answer: No. I f you are planning to or thinking of editing your application, you may save it as a draft and edit it within the application period. In order for your application to be evaluated, you must submit the application later when you make sure that you do not want to make any further changes.
Question: I have taken ALES and YDS but the system cannot reach my score. What should I do?
Answer: Make sure that you have created your account using the number you have submitted to OSYM when taking the related test. If you have already created your account, you can update it on your profile.
Question: I haven't graduated yet. Can I do an application? What should I type in the CGPA column?
Answer: You may do an application. However, you must submit your graduation document during the registration period. Do not type in an estimated CGPA. You must use the most updated CGPA on your latest transcript, and must submit this transcript in the registration as well. CGPA is used in the evaluation.
Question: I haven't taken GRE, or TOEFL, can I do a conditional application where I commit to submit the scores later?
Answer: Test scores are pre-requisites. You cannot submit an application without these scores.
Question: How about TOMER?
Answer: If you meet the other conditions (GRE and English proficiency), you can then make a commitment of submitting a valid TÖMER score in the registration period and complete your application. You may contact firstname.lastname@example.org for certification.
Question: There is a payment information section on the left menu. Should I pay a fee before applying?
Answer: Application is free of charge. Payment information is required before registration if you are admitted to the program.
Question: While creating an account, I cannot see the Bachelor's Degree option when I select that I am a YTU student.
Answer: Candidates who are creating an account for application must select NO for the question as to whether they are a YTU student. This section can be updated after you are admitted to the program.
Question: I am going to take Yıldız SEM's English Proficiency Test within the application period. However, the system does not allow me to save my application. What should I do?
Answer: The results of this test are announced before the application period ends. Candidates who are going to take this test must submit their application after the resulsts are announced if they pass the test. Candidates who type in an estimated score will lose their right to register due to document mismatch even if they are admitted to the program.
Question: I cannot find a button to upload documents such as GRE, TOEFL, diploma, transcript, etc. What shoul I do?
Answer: Document upload is not required for application.
Question: Are reference letters required after application at any phase until registration?
Answer: No. Reference letters are not arequired at all.
Question: I have a Yıldız Proficiency certificate, which programs can I apply to?
Answer: Yıldız Proficiency certificate can only be used for Master's Programs whose medium of instruction is Turkish. For applications to PhD and English-medium Master's Programs, either a YDS score or one of its equivalents accepted by the OSYM (which can be found on our application regulations) is accepted.
Question: I have double major degree and would like to submit in-field applications for both departments. What should I do?
Answer: You must submit 2 separate applications.
Question: I have submitted my application. Should I do anything else?
Answer: No.You will be informed of the entrance exam (written/interview) information via email once the application period ends.
